A metallic sphere is partially covered in vibrant green slime, dripping on a tiled surface. The background features a grid pattern, creating a modern, abstract tone.
"The Sphere Project"
Completed November 14, 2006

The Sphere Project is a (now-defunct) website developed by Richard Rosenman and Michael Kocurek. The purpose is simple; create the most captivating and visually appealing sphere from a provided scene using any 3D program and renderer of choice. We encourage everyone to submit their renders regardless of their skill level so long as they adhere to the rules. However, those with the best renders will receive the highest ratings and possibly make the front page. The goal is to rise to the top, through the use of clever ideas, thoughtful execution, technical expertise, and dazzling presentation.

The images in this project were created by myself as a starting ground for the site. Their purpose was to show a broad range of ideas to inspire other users.

  • Intricate blue mandala-like sphere with floral and star patterns on a grid background. The symmetrical design conveys complexity and calmness.
  • Cracked spherical shell with a jagged edge on a grid background. Yellow goo and shiny shards spill out, creating a surreal, eerie atmosphere.
