Push Interactive
"Egg"
Completed December 5, 2006

This project required creating an animated sequence for PUSH Interactive’s website intro, developed at Hatch Studios Ltd.

The goal was to create one sequence that would then be split into various parts and authored appropriately with Macromedia Flash. The user would be able to pick up the egg and release it, only to watch it fall and break into smaller pieces.

  • A hatched eggshell lies on a light gray surface, surrounded by smaller shell fragments. The image conveys a sense of new beginnings and fragility.
  • A cracked white egg with yellow spots sits on a smooth, reflective surface against a soft, gray-blue background, evoking curiosity and anticipation.

Although this project was rather simple in nature, breaking the egg geometry in a cracked manner proved to be quite difficult. The transition from somewhat cracked to fully shattered was produced through hiding and showing various morph targets.

The texture was procedurally done in order to eliminate any pole pinching.

This project was modeled and animated in 3dsmax, rendered with VRay 1.5 RC3 and composited with After Effects.
