Bob Dobbs
"Angel Chart"
Completed June 25, 2017

Bob Dobbs approached Hatch Studios to develop a 15-minute motion graphics and 3D animated video explaining the characteristics of each of the 14 Rings on the Angel Chart. Although this project proved to be challenging in bringing such abstract terminology to life through animated visual examples, it also proved to be quite fun for the exact same reasons. The result is a uniquely-styled and thoroughly entertaining explainer video featuring beautiful 3D animation and dynamic motion graphics.

This video was created with After Effects and the 3D animation with Element 3D. In the last shot, the lotus flower 3D animation was created with 3ds Max and rendered with VRay.

  • A historical illustration titled 'Ring 3' features two Albrecht Dürer engravings with biblical themes. Text lists four angels' names, symbols of wind restraint, and associates the Angel of the East with silicon dioxide. A circular motif with elemental symbols and a silicon atomic symbol is central. The tone is mystical and educational.
  • Graphic titled 'Ring 11' showcasing a medieval-style crown jewel icon. Below, seven colored boxes represent world empires with eras, including Medo-Persia, Babylon, Assyria, Bob, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, arranged in chronological order. The background is golden, conveying a historical and mystical tone.
