This is the first of two spots recently created at Hatch Studios Ltd. for Kid Cuisine, USA featuring the “KC” penguin character transforming through the various Kid Cuisine meal themes.
KC had existed in previous spots but it was up to Hatch to push the quality even further and bring more personality to our hero character. Our agency friends from NYC were an absolute pleasure to work with.
This project featured quite a bit of detail that tended to produce minor RAM issues. For starters, the dinosaur model contained a heavy displacement map which, when coupled with 3D motion blur and depth of field, required lengthy rendering times. Secondly, the grass was rendered using VRay Fur which, although is procedurally-generated and rendered, also required lengthy rendertimes. Finally, all the trees in the animated scenes are fully 3D and therefore quite high in polygon counts. This required the use of VRay Proxy in order to render them directly from disk thereby avoiding the requirement to have them loaded into RAM.
