Pelikan “Griffix” is Hatch Studios’ latest international spot produced for Pelikan, Germany. It features four stylized kids from various age groups each showcasing Pelikan’s latest “Griffix” line of children’s pens.
The gang performs an energetic dance routine in which they sing about their specific pens, ending in a climatic finale that wraps up the commercial nicely. The version presented here is the 4:3 PAL superless version. We also produced a widescreen SD alt. This soundtrack is the translated English version so lip-sync will be off.
This spot was particularly challenging to produce due to the number of animated kids onscreen, each performing complicated movements. The animation data, as well as the polygon count together produced work scenes that were almost prohibitive to render from a RAM standpoint.
Coupled with elaborately-stylized environments, 3D motion blur and full global illumination rendering, the spot had to be broken down into numerous layers in order to successfully render final sequences.
This spot was created using ZBrush 3.1, 3dsmax 9.0, Silo, VRay 1.5 RC3, Photoshop CS2 and After Effects 7.0.
