Hatch Studios was approached by Pixelcarve to assist in the development of a complex animated video for Hydrostor, showcasing how the large-scale long-duration energy storage system works. Titled “A-CAES” (Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage), the Hydrostor energy plant is a proven proprietary technology that can cut carbon pollution at scale.
Hatch Studios used state-of-the-art 3D animation combined with modern motion graphics to help deliver a detailed explainer video outlining the entire process from start to finish. The power plant 3D model was used to produced ultra-high resolution 2D schematic views for both the video and the website, producing a cleaner and more simplified overview of the plant’s facilities.
3D animation was especially helpful for this project allowing Hatch Studios to highlight specific elements and freely navigate along the plant. A detailed set rendered in a heavily stylized design aesthetic created a unique and seldom-used modern animation style. Combining motion graphics with 3D produced a unique combination of both styles merged together seamlessly.
This video was modeled and animated in 3dsmax, rendered with Redshift 3D and composited with After Effects.
